Accessible Counselling Community Initiative

LOW COST THERAPY - for clients in Alberta (in-person or online)

We’re honoured to provide low-cost counselling services to support our community's diverse needs.

We’re offering a pay-what-you-can counselling model that meets each client's needs. The exact cost of sessions will be determined in the first session with one of our student therapists, which gives you a chance to decide what will work best for you moving forward in therapy.

Cost per session is to a maximum of $75/hour and can be paid by credit card or e-transfer.

Jaclyn and Nessa begin practicing with us in October and will see clients until the end of April 2026.

If you are interested in booking with one of our interns, please contact us. We can add you to their waiting lists for when they begin seeing clients.

Jaclyn Prouse (she/her) (Intern Therapist, under the supervision of Sarah Hopkins, M.C., Registered Psychologist)

My position as a student therapist is centred around a deep respect for the understanding that every person has a story. I aim to create a therapeutic space where your personal story is genuinely honoured with curiosity and compassion. My life experiences and previous work as an academic tutor and community outreach volunteer have shown me the importance of considering the impact of social, relational, and personal factors on mental health and empowerment. I bring a passion for evidence-based practice to my work, recognizing that therapy is a deeply personal endeavour that cannot be limited to a one-size-fits-all approach. I integrate elements of narrative therapy with feminist and sociocultural approaches to support clients in forging a journey of healing that is personally meaningful. I aim to create an empathic, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space where your experiences are heard and your hopes for your life are empowered. If you are struggling with anxiety, trauma, daily life stress, or simply need a space to be heard, I would be honoured to be a part of your story.

Nessa Hill (any/all, he/she/they) (Intern Therapist, under the supervision of Sarah Hopkins, M.C., Registered Psychologist)

As an intern therapist, I aim to create a therapeutic space grounded in safety, which can be the basis for our work together. I endeavour to come from a place of non-judgmental and genuine curiosity about you, and to prioritize mutual collaboration based on your lived experience. I integrate various approaches into my therapeutic work, including mindfulness and somatic approaches that utilize the connection between body and mind. I also draw from narrative therapy to explore restrictive societal narratives that cause many of us to relentlessly self-criticize. I strive to create a neurodiversity-affirming space, meaning you are welcome to express yourself comfortably and authentically. As a queer person myself, I am especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ2S+ clients, and I work from a queer theory lens.
